On the evening of February 28, Fulin. PM announced that Jiangxi Shenghua, its subsidiary, agreed on a cooperation framework with the Management Committee of Yichun Economic Development Zone. The two sides agreed that Jiangxi Shenghua will invest an integrated project of a new type of high compaction lithium iron phosphate anode materials with an annual output of 200,000 tons and supporting main materials, R&D center and technology platform in Yichun economic development zone, with a total investment of about RMB 5 billion. At the same time, it will promote the comprehensive development and utilization of lithium resources, including but not limited to projects of lithium mine development, lithium salt capacity construction, lithium battery recycling, etc.
The announcement mentioned that Yichun City, where the Yichun Economic Development Zone Management Committee is located, has abundant lithium-bearing china clay mineral resources. In recent years, Yichun City has formulated a complete closed-loop industrial chain of new energy in lithium mining, mineral processing, smelting, key materials and spare parts of lithium battery, lithium-ion batteries, green and efficient energy storage batteries, new energy vehicles, battery recycling and other links. Project investment involves lithium battery manufacturing, lithium battery materials, lithium battery warehouse logistics, aluminum metal processing, semiconductors, new energy vehicle accessories and other fields. After the project completes, it is estimated to achieve an annual output value of RMB 70 billion and create more than RMB 3.5 billion in tax revenue.
Battery Convergence in Yichun
On July 30, 2021, CATL signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the People's Government of Jiangxi Province and the People's Government of Yichun City, meaning that the new lithium battery manufacturing base of CATL was planned to settle in Yichun. On October 28 of the same year, the Yichun new lithium-ion battery manufacturing base was officially launched in the Yichun Economic Development Zone, with a planning land area of 1800 mu and an investment of RMB 13.5 billion.
On February 7 of this year, the People's Government of Fengxin County issued the project filing notice of battery-grade energy-storing materials with an annual output of 100,000 tons. It is understood that the project covers an area of about 1000 acres, the total investment of the project is RMB 5 billion, divided into two phases of construction.
On May 22, 2021, the mobilization meeting of Gotion High-Tech Yichun lithium new energy project was held in Yichun Economic and Technological Development Zone. Gotion High-Tech Yichun lithium new energy project, with a total investment of RMB 11.5 billion and construction divided into two phases, mainly engaged in mining resources development, lithium carbonate extraction, lithium battery R&D and manufacturing, energy-storing system development, etc., in order to create a whole industry chain of power batteries, which is expected to achieve an annual output value of RMB 20 billion.
On August 3 and 4 of the same year, Gotion High-Tech officially signed a contract with the People's Government of Yifeng County and the People's Government of Qinxin County in Yichun City respectively, marking the official beginning of the lithium carbonate project invested by Gotion High-Tech in Yifeng and Fengxin. After reaching the project, the annual output of lithium carbonate is expected to be 100,000 tons, with an annual output value of more than RMB 10 billion.

Hefei Lixiang Battery Technology Co., Ltd. will invest RMB 2.5 billion in the project of lithium battery structural parts in the economic development zone of Yichun City, with an annual capacity of 500 million sets of aluminum housing and cover plate, with a total area of 190 mu.
Jiangxi Yongxing Special Steel New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yongxing Special Materials Technology Co., Ltd., and Jiangxi Tungsten Holding Group Co., Ltd. plan to establish a joint venture in Yichun City to build a lithium carbonate project with an annual output of 20,000 tons. The project is planned to be implemented in two phases, among which an annual output of 10,000 tons of lithium carbonate production line will be built.
It is worth noting that the local lithium enterprises in Yichun are slowly coming to the top: data show that three of the four companies with mica lithium extraction technology and mature production lines in Yichun are lithium enterprises that have grown up locally in Yichun, respectively, Jiangxi Special Electric Motor Co., Ltd., Jiangxi Nanshi Lithium New Material Co., Ltd. and Jiangxi Feiyu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.. Up to now, Jiangxi Nanshi Lithium New Material Co., Ltd. has 60,000 tons of mica lithium extraction capacity; Jiangxi Special Electric Motor Co., Ltd. has a production capacity of 15,000 tons of mica lithium extraction and 15,000 tons of fine pyroxene lithium extraction. At present, it plans to carry out compatible transformation of lithium extraction production line of spodumene, and its production capacity of mica lithium extraction will gradually increase to more than 20,000 tons every year; Jiangxi Feiyu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. has 20,000 tons of mica extraction capacity, and its long-term plan is to achieve 40,000 tons every year lithium carbonate capacity.
On December 24, 2020, the first locally listed lithium battery company in Yichun Economic and Technological Development Zone - Crown Advanced Material Co., Ltd. was listed on the science and technology innovation board. The company has more than 30 aluminum-plastic film inventions, breaking a number of technological monopolies. It is accelerating capacity expansion and is expected to reach 100 million square meters of production capacity in the near future.
Build "Asian lithium capital"
According to the data, Yichun is located in the northwest of Jiangxi Province, with rich underground mineral resources, there are 56 kinds of proven minerals, available lithium oxide reserves of 2.6 million tons, occupying 37.6%, known as the "Asian lithium capital".
In Yichun, there is a leucite mine "Yichun Tantalum niobium mine" (414 mine), and the Tonggu-Yifeng - Fengxin - Gao'an belt also has a polymetallic associated leucite deposit.
